The All Sufficiency Of The Gospel (1)

The All Sufficiency Of The Gospel (1)

Greg King

The best carpenter in the country was asked, “which is your best tool?”  Instead of pointing to a costly power saw or drill, he picked up a simple square and said, “this is the best tool; it makes all the others work.”

God in His wisdom has given us the best and only tool that is necessary to know how to live our lives pleasing to Him, the simple gospel.  In Romans 1:16 Paul says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”  In this verse, Paul gives four reasons why the Gospel is our most effective tool; he says it is power, it is of God, it is unto salvation, and it is for everyone.  The saving power of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is for all.

The good news; the joyful news; The gospel of God and the gospel of His son our savior Jesus Christ.  Good news because it is inspired by God and is our hope of peace and salvation. And yet knowing its power and divine inspiration there are those who insist on preaching, teaching, and following manmade doctrines. Paul warned against this very thing in Galatians 1:6-9 when he said, “I marvel that you are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel; Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you and would pervert the gospel of Christ.  But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.  As we said before, so I now say again, if any man preaches any other gospel unto you than that you have received, let him be accursed.”  May we be determined to stay within the straight and narrow and safe path illuminated by God’s Holy Word, The All Sufficient Gospel.
