Coping with Life 6 – Financial Security 1

By Mike Willis

One might be surprised to learn some of the things the Bible teaches about financial security. In the next several articles, I would like to present some of the things that makes one more financially secure. These principles are not from an unqualified man giving investment advice; it is a preacher presenting what the Bible says about financial prosperity.

BE A GO GETTER! Solomon wrote, “Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise. Without having any chief, officer, or ruler, she prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest. How long will you lie there, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man” (Prov. 6:6-11).

“A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich” (Prov. 10:4).

“Love not sleep, lest you come to poverty; open your eyes, and you will have plenty of bread” (Prov. 20:13).

“The hand of the diligent will rule, while the slothful will be put to forced labor” (Prov. 12:24).

If one wishes to prosper financially, he is going to have apply himself to his work, whatever that job might be. People do not want to pay a people to be lazy, dragging around, expecting full pay for a job half done. They want hard working individuals who energetically do their work.
