God Is...(2)
“God Is…..”(2)

1John 4:8,16 says, “GOD IS LOVE”. As we mentioned in the last article the love of God is misunderstood by many today. Notice what Paul says of God’s love in Ephesians 3:14-19. “For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” It is important that Christians come to grasp the breadth, length, depth, and height of God’s love. But that is quite a challenge because we are to measure that which is beyond measure and to know that which surpasses knowledge. Time and time again in the OT, God’s love is exemplified in His longsuffering toward Israel. Only a loving God could continue to love a people who had perpetually rejected Him by turning to idols. God has always desired for man to love him (Mark 12:30). Today, our relationship with God is based upon love (John 14:15). If one has the proper love he will repent of his sins (Luke3:13), confess Christ as Lord (Matt. 10:32-33), be baptized for the remission of sins (Mark 16:15-16), and live a faithful life unto death (Rev. 2:10).
