Many Faiths?
MANY FAITHS?
Greg King
If all churches are teaching the Bible, then why do we have so many faiths? Notice what the Holy Spirit said in 1 Timothy 4:1-6. “Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer. If you put these things before the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, being trained in the words of the faith and of the good doctrine that you have followed.”
Paul tells Timothy that some would depart or leave The Faith. The faith that comes by hearing and obeying the Word (Heb. 5:8-9). After departing from the Word of God, they would begin listening to and obeying doctrines or teachings contrary to God’s word. These hypocritical doctrines would be teaching lies because the conscience of those who advocate them are "seared" (1 Tim. 4:2).
It is sad that many believers and some of their leaders (Reverends, Fathers, Pastors, etc.) are blind to the fact they are following creeds of men (Acts 17:23; Matt. 15:14). Just being religious, having faith and belonging to some “church” they are misled following a man-made organization which one day will be rooted up (Matt. 15:13).
Many have sadly fallen into the trap that Paul warned the Galatians about. Galatians 1:6-10 says, “I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed. For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.
"WE MUST OBEY GOD RATHER THAN MEN," for "there is a way that seems right to a man, but it's end is the way of death" (Acts 5:29; Prov. 14:12).
