What Are YOU Saying?
What Are YOU Saying?
Greg King
In Luke 6:46 Jesus asked a question that should be seriously pondered by all. He asked, “But why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do the things which I say?” Jesus is showing us that the way we show our faith, our trust, and our love for Him is by obedience. He is saying that we must put actions with our words. He is saying that one’s speech and life must balance. We should be interested to know how we can make sure our actions give testimony to our words. Do you want a life with God? Do you want to be forgiven of all your sins? Jesus is saying DO what I tell you! In Matthew 7 He identifies who is wise and who is foolish. In verse 26 He says, “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand”. He said previously in verse 21, “Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” How much plainer could He be?
Paul told the Thessalonians, “when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Thess. 1:7-8.
So, what are you saying? Not in word but in action. Do you believe that Jesus is the Christ?(John 8:24) Have you confessed that before men?(Matt. 10:32-33) Have you repented of your sins?(Luke 13:3) Have you been baptized for the forgiveness of your sins?(Acts 2:38)
When we obey the instructions of the Lord, we are told that it is the Lord that adds us to His body, the church. The one He promised to build in Matt. 16:18.(Acts 2:47) I then must seek out other Christians who are worshipping and working in the way that God has designated in His word. Have you done those things? What are you saying?
