Where Is Your Trust?
Where Is Your Trust?
Greg King
In Psalm 40:4-5 David said, 4). “Blessed is that man who makes the LORD his trust, And does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. 5) Many, O LORD my God, are Your wonderful works Which You have done; And Your thoughts toward us Cannot be recounted to You in order; If I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.” The Lord was his help, his protector, his rock of assurance.
When we think of the trials David went through, from chasing wild animals away from his flocks, to facing Goliath, to being on the run from King Saul, we have to acknowledge the great faith he must have had to continue to rely upon God. He placed his future, and indeed his life, in the Lord’s hands, trusting that the outcome would be for the best. David could consider himself blessed that he could turn to the Lord. May we count ourselves among the blessed and have confidence that, no matter what we’re going through, the Lord is there for us. Life is full of uncertainties. We like to think that we have a firm handle on things, but the reality is we don’t know from one moment to the next what life will throw at us. Sometimes life can give us some pretty hard blows. Sometimes it seems unfair & cruel. It seems that at every turn there is some obstacle to overcome. We need help. We can’t handle it on our own. We become weary and we need encouragement. We become feeble and we need strength. God understands our weaknesses. Psalm 103:13-14 “Just as a father has compassion on his children, So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him. For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust.”
Psalm 121:1-2 “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.” The Lord stands ready to grant wisdom & comfort for life’s problems & take on Himself the burdens that we cannot bare. He is ready and willing to strengthen us that we might stand. When life makes us uncomfortable, we are encouraged to seek God’s comfort. No one can comfort us the way God can. Is your faith strong enough to trust in Him?
