The All Sufficiency Of The Gospel (2)
The All Sufficiency Of The Gospel (2)
Greg King
I recently read a Gallup news article from 2022 that a “record-low 20% of Americans now say the Bible is the literal word of God”. That it is a frightening number. It also could be the reason we see such moral decline in our society. It makes me wonder if those who do not believe the Bible is from God have ever read or investigated the scripture. What is it that leads them to their conclusion? The scriptures give indisputable proof as to the gospels all-sufficiency and prove that it is truly “the power of God for our salvation.”
The gospel is perfect. In James 1:25 James says, “But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.” The emphasis of the passage is not on the looking or observing, but on the duty of continuing or persevering in the observance of the law. The Perfect Law of Liberty referring to the law of God. It is called the perfect law, as being completely free from all defects; just as a law ought to be. Since it is perfect, is there anything we can add to it or take away from it that would cause it to be more perfect? (Rev. 22:18-19)
That which is perfect cannot be improved upon by addition or subtraction. That which is perfect cannot have anything added to it or taken away from it without destroying or scarring its perfection. “It’s already perfect.” In Hebrews 7:19 we find that the law of Moses could not bring perfection, so it was only a shadow of good things to come (Heb. 10:1). In Hebrews 9:8 we find that the way for man to be saved was not known until the gospel was preached. The gospel is perfect.
If you desire to obey God and have your sins forgiven you will only succeed by following the God-breathed word of God.
